Do you desire to know or review the key elements of the Christian belief? It does not require an advanced education to understand the basics of Christianity, but the Christian faith is both rich and deep.  We hope that this course will help you discover just that.

In this course you will learn the essentials of the Christian faith and what it means to follow Jesus, the only Son of God, the One who saved us.   We will cover prayer, church, angels, heaven, the Trinity, and much more - all designed to help you seek and follow Jesus.

  • Tactics

Learn how to defend your faith with confidence and grace in this video-based apologetics course.  In a culture increasingly indifferent or even hostile to Christian truth, followers of Christ need to be equipped to communicate with those who do not speak their language or accept their source of authority.  In this course, we will show you how to artfully communicate the truths of Christianity and keep conversations moving forward in constructive ways.

The tactical approaches you'll learn in this course will give you indispensable skills to help you engage others about your Christian beliefs—and it may also deepen your own faith along the way.

  • Introduction to Worship    (Postures of Biblical Worship)

You may have wondered, why do people raise their hands, why do people go to an altar to pray, or even why do believers in God stand up and sing so loudly? Music, like worship, is a second language and the best way to learn a foreign language is by immersion. There are various ways responsive worship is visible at The Naz, and seen in Scripture, but what could those visual and audible responses have to do with our heart, our faith, and the heart of God?

In this course, we will study worship from a Wesleyan perspective: What it is, what it looks like in the life of a redeemed soul. and what it looks like in a corporate worship setting. We’ll share some experiences, briefly examine worship during the holiness movement, but most importantly look at specific Biblical examples in the Old and New Testament that illustrate responsive worship and the impact upon spiritual formation and even the life of the local church.

    Course Materials: A Bible.

  • The Mindful Marriage

Whether you are a newlywed or have been married for decades, The Mindful Marriage is for you!  In this course you will learn how to identify your emotional triggers and understand the pain driving your reactions. You will also discover the four coping mechanisms and how yours impacts your relationship. Finally you will create healthier patterns through self-regulation and emotional healing.

We will read and discuss The Mindful Marriage by Ron and Nan Deal. The book is laid out in 11 chapters. The focus of part one, chapters 1-6, is on “The Old Self”. In part one we will learn about the two pillars of a healthy relationship, love and trust. We will look at our triggers, coping reactions and pain cycles. Part two, chapters 7-11, focuses on “The New Self”. We will learn more about choosing to emotionally regulate. Ron and Nan also explain “The Path to Peace”. These four steps allow each person to manage their own pain and then actively look for ways to connect with their spouse. Through reading about and discussing the various exercises in the book we will learn how to renew our minds, all in the pursuit of becoming one as husband and wife.

  • Bible Study - Revelation

Revelation is the only book in the Bible that promises a special blessing for those who read and take to heart what is written in it (Rev 1:3).  So let's be blessed together!

In this study, we will outline the book of Revelation, laying out different interpretations and perspectives, and God’s plan for the culmination of history and redemption of the world. We will ultimately point back to the one whom the book is written about, the resurrected and glorified Son of God, Jesus Christ (Rev 1:1), who is our blessed hope (Titus 2:13).

This class is intended to be an introduction.  In our time together, we will cover the highlights of Revelation, setting you up for study on your own and with friends.
